Michael Jackson To Appear On Pepsi Cans

More than one billion cans will be imprinted with the late pop icon's image.

More than three years after Michael Jackson's death
, the pop icon will be at the beach, the pool, the 7-Eleven and everywhere in between this summer thanks to a new deal with PepsiCo.

According to The Wall Street Journal the #2 soda company is going back to the future with a massive campaign that will have Jackson's image imprinted on more than one billion cans of soda as part of its new global "Live For Now" marketing push.

Nearly 30 years after Jackson first agreed to be the voice of the brand, an agreement has been reached with Jackson's estate, though reps for both sides declined to disclose the financial terms of the deal. When Jackson signed on to shill Pepsi in 1984 he was paid a then-record $5 million. A representative for the estate said the PepsiCo campaign is the first branding deal executed since Jackson died in 2009 at the age of 50.

While Jackson was handsomely paid in the 1984 deal, it was during the filming of an ad for that sponsorship that his life was forever altered. While shooting a commercial for Pepsi, a pyro effect went wrong and Jackson's hair caught fire, seriously burning his face and scalp and requiring multiple skin grafts and resulting in intense pain. It has been speculated that Jackson's addiction to pain medications may have begun after the mishap.

The new campaign is timed to coincide with the 25th anniversary of Jackson's Bad album. PepsiCo will start distributing the special-edition cans in China this weekend and they will arrive in the U.S. later this month. The 16-ounce, collector's-edition can in the U.S. will feature a special download code that will link to downloads of Bad remixes. Though TV ads will debut in China later this month, it has not been determined yet if similar spots will air in the U.S.

How a Bathroom Remodeling Contractor Can Increase the Value of ...

When we often think of home improvement project contractors, such as a bathroom remodeling contractor, we tend to think of what that contractor can do for the value of our home. Besides increasing the value of your home, you can easily benefit a number of different ways from having your bathroom remodeled. Did you know that you can benefit from the overall enjoyment of increased function from your remodeled bathroom as well? Additionally, your home itself can benefit from the services of a good bathroom remodeling contractor, often in more ways than one.

Before you can begin to understand the benefits that your home may reap from a bathroom remodel contractor, it is a good idea to focus on what a bathroom remodeling project is. Depending on who you talk to, you may get different definitions of a home improvement project. Although there are some who say that a bathroom remodeling project can only be considered remodeling if all of it is changed, there are others who claim that simply replacing your bathtub is enough to constitute a bathroom remodeling project.

Perhaps, the greatest bathroom remodeling benefit that your home will see will be an increase in the home value. The majority of San Diego homes that undergo the services of a bathroom remodeling contractor end up seeing an increase in perceived market value. This is because almost all bathroom remodel contractor projects result in something better than you had before. Even though a small bathroom remodeling project may result in an increase in value, the larger bathroom remodels are often ones that produce the biggest differences in value.

Although most homes do see an increase in value after a bathroom remodeling contractor has completed the remodel project, it is important to note that not all homes do. If your bathroom remodeling contractor did a low quality job or never got completed, you may actually find that your homes overall value decreases. That is why it is important that all projects not only get finished, but that they get finished right.

Aside from an increase in value, a reputable bathroom remodeling contractor may help to improve the appearance of your home. As previously mentioned, most bathroom remodeling projects are done to improve a bathroom, in other words, make it better than it was before. Whether your home was outdated or if your bathroom needed repairs to make it safe again, your bathroom could greatly benefit from a new facelift. In fact, you may find that your bathroom not only looks better, but so does the rest of your home.

Although it is nice to know what a bathroom remodeling project can do for your home, you may also be wondering what it can do for you. As stated above, homeowners often end up benefiting, in a number of different ways, from a bathroom remodel contractor project. Many of these benefits are, in a way, related the appearance of your home or bathroom. Since bathroom remodeling projects almost always result in something better, you, as a homeowner, may feel proud of your new bathroom. In fact, you may feel as if you got a whole new bathroom. Since there is a good chance that you will be pleased with the changes, you may find yourself more willing to invite your friends or family to come into your home; thus resulting in a whole other set of benefits.

As you can see there are an unlimited number of benefits to having your bathroom remodeled; benefits that may not only apply to you, but to your home as well. If would like to reap many of the above mentioned benefits, you are advised to get started today. The sooner you get in touch with a reputable and trustworthy bathroom remodeling contractor to consult with on your bathroom remodel project, the sooner you can be pleased with the end result.

Opening day for Occupy Wall Street: Act 2

Occupy Wall Street protesters plan demonstrations in more than 100 cities, hoping to rekindle the movement after months in relative hibernation.

The Occupy Season is kicking off.

Starting Tuesday morning, May Day, the Occupy Movement in 100 cities will begin what it is terming ?spring awakening,? with marches, rhetoric, and probably some old-fashioned civil disobedience. The organizers are calling for a general strike although union support for a work moratorium appears low. And after a day of unpermitted, pop-up protests, educational picket lines, ?free university" teach-ins, and other events there will be an ?after party,? with bands and speeches.

Many of the issues will seem familiar from last fall when the protests began: income inequality (think 99 percent vs. 1 percent), high levels of student debt, and anger at foreclosures. But this spring the disparate groups that make up Occupy are ?zeroing in? on some specific issues, such as breaking up the Bank of America, campaigning against right-wing groups, and a new focus on the issues facing people of color.

?I think it was inevitable, various groups are focusing on issues they feel they can have impact on,? says Karanja Gacuca, a spokesman for Occupy. ?Income inequality is still our focus but now we are drumming down on specific issues that solidify the 1 percent.?

Among the new issues, according to Mr. Gacuca:?

  • Breaking up the Bank of America. ?Every month there will be actions targeting both the Bank of America and Merrill Lynch (owned by B of A),? he says. ?We think it ought to be broken up into smaller, more manageable banks.?
  • A campaign against the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), a conservative group that drafts research and policy papers as well as local laws. ?As we make the public more aware of them, they are losing some of their corporate support,? says Gacuca.
  • A campaign against the major spending by companies for the presidential campaign. ?We will be targeting super PACs and presidential candidates and following both candidates at fundraisers in New York and other big cities,? says Gacuca.

Narrowing the focus is a good plan, says Stephen Zunes, a professor of politics at the University of San Francisco. ?It?s good if you can get reforms even if the goal is more radical,? he says. ?Having short-term goals that are achievable is good.?

However, political scientist Edward Morgan of Lehigh University says to transition into actual legislative actions ?requires lots of outreach to the rest of America as well as sharpening the critique.?

Making contact with the public has been increasingly difficult for the Occupy movement, since police departments have cracked down on their encampments in most cities.

For example, on Monday in downtown Manhattan, only one Occupy Wall Street protester, Christopher Guerra, was sitting in Zuccotti Park, where protestors started the movement Sept. 17. Seated behind a sign that says, ?Prosecute the Fraud,? referring to the 2008 bank bailouts, he says the Occupy protesters are now spread out around the city, not just in one location.

One of those new locations is on the steps outside of Federal Hall National Memorial, which is across the street from the New York Stock Exchange. The protesters are on the stairs to the left of a statute of George Washington ? the site where he took his oath of office as first president. However, even in that location, there are limits: the police are limiting the protests to 25 people at any given time. A sign on the steps reads, ?NYPD created these barricades to mentally and physically separate us. Let?s be one ? talk to me.?

UFC on Fox 3 will answer these five questions

UFC returns to network television for the third time on Saturday with four bouts on Fox and six on Fuel TV. What questions will be answered when the fights are over?

1. Is Johny Hendricks ready for the big time? Since losing to Rick Story in 2010, Hendricks has been on a tear. He won three straight fights, including a 12-second knockout of Jon Fitch. His last test before being promised a title shot is Josh Koscheck, a one-time welterweight contender who has equally impressive wrestling credentials.

2. Does Nate Diaz deserve a title shot? UFC president Dana White says with a win over Jim Miller, yes. Diaz won his last two fights, but lost the two before that. The lightweight belt is being contested in August and Anthony Pettis is waiting in the wings. Even with a win, Diaz may have some time on his hands before fighting for UFC gold.

3. Is Josh Koscheck over the hill? Koscheck is 34. Hendricks is 28. That age difference means it's easy to look at the fight as old fogie vs. young buck, but Koscheck took offense, calling any media who pointed out the gap between their ages "retards." If he wants to prove he's not an old man, he needs to give a better showing in the cage against Hendricks than he did against Mike Pierce in February, when he barely won a split decision.

4. Will Pat Barry vs. Lavar Johnson last more than a minute? This bout kicks off the month of the heavyweight, and it promises to be the perfect way to start a May that will feature the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix finals and UFC 146's all heavyweight main card. Barry and Johnson have 20 knockout wins between them. Chances are that number will be 21 by the time the bout is over.

5. How do the latest crop of "The Ultimate Fighter" products stand up? The preliminary card, airing on Fuel TV and Fox Deportes, is full of TUF castmembers from the past few seasons. John Dodson, Louis Gaudinot and Dennis Bermudez are getting their first shots at fights outside of the TUF finale, and this is their chance to show they're more than just good TV.
